Introduction To Hair Loss In Women

What is hair loss in women and what are the possible causes? What treatments may be recommended in general? What are other issues associated with women hair loss?

The women's crowning glory is their hair. But if the hair is affected by conditions, such as hair loss, and thinning of hair, the women's self-esteem will be affected. Reacting strongly to the physical state of not only your hair but your whole appearance, as well, is not vanity. It only shows that you are giving importance in taking care of your appearance and yourself.

All about hair loss

Normal hair loss is when you lose only about 50 to a hundred strands a day while excessive hair loss would definitely mean more than just that. Common causes are attributed to aging and hormonal issues.

Some conventional doctors downplay hair loss as an inevitable part of aging for both sexes. Although the use of a topical product is recommended to prevent existing hair from any possible loss, there is no clarity as to whether its causes may be dramatically fought.

Female hair loss

hair loss woman pictureFemale hair loss, often referred to as the catch-all term alopecia, has different degrees of severity, causes and treatments. The good news is many causes were resolved over time with an active, holistic and hopeful approach.

While there are still no ultimate cures for hair loss, balding women should not depend on wigs or any other hair thickeners just to resolve their hair loss problem. There are other fundamental choices a woman can make to support natural hair growth where it counts.

Hair loss in women typically does not result in complete baldness, as is often in the case of men. Why do women suffer hair loss and what can she do about it? What are the factors that can contribute to women's hair loss? These nagging questions can be answered and can be attributed to some factors, like estrogen and hormonal imbalance.

Although the role of estrogen in hair growth in humans is not clear, physicians usually recommend the use of both oral and topical estrogens to treat hair loss in women. Oral estrogen is found in contraceptive pills that are used by women to control birth. The estrogen in these pills is said to be an effective aid in treating hair loss. But women should select pills that have no androgenic activity. Women with androgenetic alopecia are also warned not to use androgen precursors or testosterone, such as DHEA.

Hormone also plays a great role in women's hair loss. Women who are in their pre-and-post menopausal period suffer thinning of scalp hair and women suffer a resting phase of hair follicles that result in hair loss after giving birth.

The range of possible remedies for the treatment of thinning hair in women is similar to those available for men. In women, however, hair loss and widespread thinning of the hair is the case, unlike the bald patches in men.
