What is the real score about hair loss in women? In this article, you will find common myths about the causes and the real facts behind it. You will also be given a handful of information about the types of hair loss in women.
There are lots of information you need to know about hair loss in women. Before you submit yourself into treatments, there are some myths and facts we need to discuss about its causes. Let us start first with the misconceptions on this issue.
• Stress. Stress is a mere contributory factor but not all hair losses could be attributed to this scenario. Please stop blaming it as the primary cause.
• Bad Circulation. Like stress, this factor should not be attacked as the main culprit. You will just waste time and money for undergoing treatment because of this fact.
• Sweat and Dirt. Do not regard these issues as the root cause to the problem. They do not at all affect the hair loss condition.
Classifications of Hair Loss in Women
There are different types of hair loss in women and the most common are the following:
• Female Androgenetic Alopecia. This is a hair loss condition in women were they do not get totally bald but just a mere decrease of hair density in some affected areas. This hair loss group could be classified under the Ludwig Scale which shows an actual image of how this disorder occurs and what are the common spots affected.
• Female Telogen Effluvium. This is a state wherein more hair follicles enter the telogen state and you actually need experts to perform the test. The most common cause of this situation is severe fever related illness like typhoid fever. Hair loss could possibly occur two to five months after experiencing the condition. Other reasons for the female telogen effluvium are systematic illness and sometimes medication.
• Female Alopecia Areata. This is probably the most common hair loss type in women where the condition becomes very severe. The ratio could be seen in a 1:1000 women. The causes of this hair loss classification are autoimmune response (the body rejects the follicles because they consider them as foreign objects) and thyroid diseases. In this condition, the hair reappears without even having to undergo treatment and in relatively severe cases, the state may reappear over and over again. The hair loss may even be undergone by the lashes, eyebrows and other body parts which grow hair.
There is no truly effective drug treatment for severe hair loss in women. In deciding how to treat your hair loss condition, the age onset and severity are key factors. All the products that are being sold in the market to treat this condition are just enhancers and the effects are usually temporary. You may elevate it to surgery should the situation deem it necessary. Proper consultation with your doctor is required.
